The adaptation of children to the primary school

The child?s entry to school is an important developmental milestone. Each child is a personality, so there are different variants of adaptation to new conditions. The theoretical part of the thesis acquaints the reader with basic concepts of the pre-school period, school period, and children?s adaptation. On the basis of a qualitative survey, the thesis, then, compares them with presented results. The practical part follows the theoretical one and focuses on comparing success or failure in specified categories. To observe adaptation of very different children to the primary school, children with varied skills and abilities were selected for the survey already in the nursery school. To obtain as much information about children as possible, observations, tests, interviews with teachers in both types of educational institutions as well as questionnaires for parents were used
