Catechetical methodology of St. Augustin

The thesis tries to answer how the Augustine's manner of searching the truth affected his pastoral ministry and catechesis as well as what methods can modern catechetists find in the Augustine's cathechetical writtings. It is based especially on the dates of Augustine's life and it analyses some of his works. In his catechetical treatises Augustine pointed out the different level of education of hearers and he recomended his readers to bring themselves down to the level of the lowest of their hearers, even as Christ humbled himself. On his opinion it does not matter if there are different opinions about an issue. What is important is to have everybody the same purpose which is the sincere effort to know the God's truth. The main objective of catechesis is leading to faith, hope and love. Augustine pointed out the unity and purity of the Church as the key point for the human salvation
