Aesthetic Distance and Theatre

The basic topic of the Bachelor Thesis Aesthetic Distance and Theatre is the explanation of basic characteristics of ?psychical distance? as described in ?Psychical Distance? as a Factor in Art and as an Aesthetic Principle by Edward Bullough. At first, the thesis deals with the distance in general, explains Edward Bullough?s terminology ? the conception of distance, the conception of ?psychical distance?, and the antinomy and variability of distance. Then it concentrates specifically on distance in the art and tries to demonstrate the facts obtained by examples in individual kinds of art. The thesis also contemplates the distance as an aesthetic principle whereby the problems of the ?beautiful? and the ?pleasant? can be explained in aesthetics. Further, this Bachelor Thesis aims at the distance in artistic creation and tries to describe it in one selected kind of art ? the art of drama.
