Linguistic Analysis of a Baroque Text

Through examining the text from the first half of the seventeenth century, this diploma thesis endeavours to analyze the Czech language at the beginning of the Baroque period. (The title of analyzed text is The History of the Sedlecky Monastery, written by Simeon Eustachius Kapihorský.) The first (theoretical) part of the thesis informs about the author and about the Sedlecky Monastery. This part treats also the composition; attention is given mainly to vertical and horizontal structures of the text and to the contained topics. The second part{\crq}s concern is the analysis of orthography, phonetics and morphology, while special attention is given to the features of language, which are different from contemporary language.
