Protected designation of origin and protected geographical indication labelled foodstuffs made in southwest regions of France.

This bachelor thesis analyses the issue of Foods with Protected Designation of Origin or Protected Geographical Indication. It focuses on the south-western region of France. The thesis consists of two parts. At first it introduces the history and reasons for instituting the system of food labelling and the current legislation. It also presents the specific types of classifications and describes the process of assigning designations according to appropriate phases. The second part studies the south-western region of France and foods genuinely originating in that region. The writer presents a list of foods with PDI or PDO classifications in particular regions.
