The level of the legal conscience of pupils of chosen schools in the Tábor district in relation to the Convention on the Rights of the child.

This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of children rights and awareness of the rights among students of secondary schools. The objective of the practical part was to determine the awareness of the Convention on the Rights of the Child among students of selected secondary schools, not only in respect to the existence of the legal document as such but also in respect to the content of the Convention. The results of the research conducted in selected secondary schools in the Tábor district have confirmed that the overall level of awareness among the students about their rights and about the content of the rights is not satisfactory. Therefore, also with regard to the fulfillment of Article 42 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, it is necessary to focus on improvement of awareness and knowledge of children rights among the general public, both in respect to an adult population and in respect to children. It mainly depends on the children and young people whether and how they understand their rights and whether they are able to take responsibility
