This paper deals with an increasingly discussed phenomenon of today {--} the burnout syndrome. This is a state accompanied by a set of typical, but polymorphic, symptoms that result from the interaction of working environment, workplace conditions, demands on a worker, interpersonal relations and, last but not least, the subjective nature of the worker. Burnout is then reflected not only the quality of work of such a person but, primarily, in their personal life. Helping professions are most affected; in these professions a person is exposed to far greater pressure, level of responsibility and stress situations.
