Maternity centre as a support of parentage

ABSTRACT The target of this work is to inform about a role of maternity centers in the present society. A theoretical part describes the present family situation and its changes that result in necessity of meeting within informal groups. At children I focused on their achieving independance and ability of socializing and entering into relationships with persons of the samé age. As priority for mothers I defíned entering into relationship with other mothers, mutual sharing and self-improvement in courses and art workshops. The work has the aim to find out how exactly was helped mothers by the maternity center Zvoneček and further map out experience of this center female visitors with their children commencing kindergarten. The research topič is to describe the situation in the materninty center Zvoneček, to find out mothers' satisfaction and the center's usefolness for their children. The method ušed here was questioning, a technique of a semi-controlled interview that concerned quality research. 37 mothers, attending the maternity center Zvoneček, were addressed with this technique in a čase of a random sample. A recording sheet was ušed containing totally 37 open as well as semi-closed questions. While evaluating the open questions, I categorized respondenta' answers, linked together identical answers and ťurther presented them via charts oř diagrams. Another technique was a qualitative in-depth interview with a leading coordinator of the maternity center that I recorded using a dictaphone and consequently transfered into words. In respect of the ušed research were hypotheses set at the very end of this research: Hl: The maternity center íulfils its supportive function for mothers and their children. H2: Children, attending the maternity center, more easily got in contact with other children of their age. The leading coordinator was also asked some questions fřom the questionnaire by mé in the course of an interview. While comparing the answers of the coordinator and mothers, I found out almost equal results, which is an evidence of professionalism and correct running of the maternity center
