Aesthetic of popular photography. The case study of the photoclub Písek.

Approximately since 1970s the social sciences and humanities significantly changed the object of their research and moved their attention from high culture to popular culture. The growing interest in amateur, family and popular photography was the important part of this movement. The aim of this bachelor thesis is thus to delimit the boundaries of the amateur, family and popular photography, to understand the taste of amateur photographers and to describe how their aesthetic sense affect their photographic production. Finally we try to grasp the consequences of the digital technology on the taste and production of amateur photographers. The thesis is theoretically based on several critical reflections on amateur photography (R. Barthes, P. Bourdieu, S. Sontag, V. Flusser) and methodologically is based on the interviews with amateur photographers and on the critical interpretation of several amateur photography guides
