Social Media have been gaining in popularity worldwide over the last years at an increasingly grow in grate. Meanwhile, social media have penetrated in the workplace, affecting employees’ work in many aspects. This paper aims to investigate the potential of social media on employees’ job performance, and the underlying mechanism for how social media influence employees’ job performance. In this paper, we propose that social media have positive effects on knowledge sharing and network ties, while the latter will contribute to better adaption to the network changes according to adaptive performance theory.
