It is clear from project management literature that insufficient emphasis is placed upon project governance in its own right and that currently governance in respect of larger projects, if indeed it is implemented at all, is enacted at too low a level within the hierarchy. This leads to the proposal of a dedicated project governance model oriented around corporate management which will manage via checks and balances between administration management, the department initiating a project, the finance department and project management.
