Information Systems educators frequently hear dire predictions of the impending demise of the academic MIS department as wellasitsindustrycounterpart,thecentralizedinformationsystemsfunctionofthefirm. Ontheacademicside,weworryabout “our” curricula diffusing into other academic departments, whose faculty increasingly recognize the extent to which information technology has transformed industry practice in their discipline. On the corporate side, “our” graduates’ jobs are being grabbed up by non-IS majors as computing power migrates from the IS core to the masses in the functional areas
