This paper begins with a brief discussion of knowledge management, and the characteristics of tacit and explicit knowledge. We then present a conceptual model for the formation of tacit knowledge which suggests that collaborative technology may be only one of a number of information technologies that have an important role to play in tacit knowledge creation
