In my diploma work I searched for the occurrence of two English constructions (cleft sentence and pseudo-cleft sentence) which make it possible to emphasize and point out a particular sentence element on the base of the excerption of the present authentic English texts. At the same time I noticed how frequent these two constructions are in different literary genres (fiction, journalism, technical text), which factors the using of cleft sentences or pseudo-cleft sentences depends on in a given context and the contextual dependence of the sentence elements and the elements of the subordinate clause. In addition, I noticed which sentence elements are emphasized the most frequently and which limitations refer to using of both constructions. Bes...
