Educational futures scholars argue that today’s education system is no longer fit for purpose. They argue that major change is needed in response to certain mega-trends beyond education, but schools have failed to keep up with the pace of change. These scholars argue that much of the rhetoric around ‘future focused education’ is superficial and insufficient to generate the radical change required. Educational futures theorist Keri Facer argues that we need to move away from attempting to predict and be ready for the future.
