The text is devoted to the authorship of the Renaissance tombstone of Ladislav of Šternberk (+ 1521) and to the group of Czech sepulchral monuments inspired by a production of Passau workshops specialized in this kind of sculpture. The second part of this study describes a negative influence of Prague synod in 1605 on a development of Czech figural tomb sculpture
