This paper discussed the role of urban planning in achieving successful urban regeneration. It focuses on a specific regeneration project in Dublin’s inner city, the Grangegorman development, which relocates, on a phased basis, the Technological University Dublin’s c.40 buildings on dispersed sites within Dublin City to a single 29 hectare site. The development also provides health facilities for the Health Service Executive, in addition to community and recreational uses and commercial development.
