This paper outlines a range of strategic issues that the Irish tourism industry is facing in the 2000\u27s. The paper analyses the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the Irish tourism industry. Drawing on research into the German market the paper explores the core strategies, which can be pursued in order to achieve potential of the tourism in this one sector of the market. The findings of this research can be used as a framework for other core markets in Irish tourism
