Experiments were performed in a cylindrical bubble column 0.19 m in diameter and 4 m in height. Metal perforated plate with a constant free plate area 0.2 % and holes with diameters 0.5 mm was used for gas distribution. Air was used as gas phase, water and non-coalescent 0.5 M solution of sodium sulphate (Na2SO4) as liquid phases. The kLa values obtained using air in coalescent and non-coalescent batch are discussed. For the homogeneous regime an empirical correlation between kLaL and gas holdup ?G was found
