Though they represent the oldest family of binders for surface coatings, autoxidizable resin systems still are in wide use. The highest performing class within this family are those which are urethane modified. The improvement in physical properties imparted by this urethane modification are seen in their solvent resistance, hydrolysis resistance and superior abrasion performance. Since their first introduction in the 1950\u27s solvent borne uralkyds have continued to improve and still have a dominant position in the do-it-yourself market.
