The aim this project is to study the behaviour of HVDC cables and to obtain a small-signal model capable of describing accurately the frequency and the time domain response of real cables. In order to achieve this goal, the topology of the cable and the wave propagation matrix model will be studied. Once the cable non linear behaviour has been studied, some approximated models will be described and in particular, the frequency-dependent equivalent Π-circuit model will be simulated. In addition, the characteristics of the layers of the cable and the impact they have in the impedance and the admittance will be analyse
