During the last years the urgency to invest in new types of energies has become clearer. These energies are the renewable energies, whose together with microgrids, allows the energetic independence of remote areas or developing countries from the world. The project explained in here studies the design, modelling, control and simulation of a microgrid completely isolated. This microgrid is based on diesel generators (DG), photovoltaic energy (PV) and an AC/DC converter known as Voltage Source Converter (VSC). The modelling of the working principle of PV cells is extensively studied and the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) control algorithm used in order to make PV work at maximum power.
