This paper presents a novel filter configuration based on acoustic wave resonators that allows to obtain filter responses unachievable with the well established ladder configuration, such as arbitrary position of transmission zeros, multiband filtering responses and wideband performances. Additional advantage of such configuration is the full flexibility to prescribe the coupling coefficient of each resonator by the designer. The present work outlines the concept behind this new configuration. Several examples will be shown to illustrate the benefits of this novel approach.Peer Reviewe
