High resolution radar performance is critically affected by the quality of signal acquisition and first level processing subsystems which implement a filter mached to the transmitted waveform. In the case of CW-FM radars, the homodyne configuration allows an efficient implementation of the matched filter based on Fourier Transform techniques. The increasing computing power and versatility of latest microcontrollers allows the design of efficient subsystems including analogue to digital conversion and fast correlation in the Fourier domain.
