The accuracy of physical activity intensity (PAI) quantifiers that rely solely on smartphone accelerometers is nowadays very poor. The addition of complementary information such as that provided by the magnetometer, gyroscope, GPS and/or barometer may improve the PAI evaluation hence improving the quantification, characterization and classification of PAI (according to the World Health Organization) as Very Low, Low, Moderate or Vigorous.
