Aplicación de la crioconcentración progresiva para la desalinización

This work is focused on the study of desalination of salt solutions (as simulation of sea water fluid), through a system of progressive cryoconcentration by indirect contact. The effect of three factors (solid concentration in the initial fluid, agitator speed and coolant temperature) were investigated by conducting laboratory experiments. To evaluate the cryoconcentration process the following parameters were analyzed: average distribution coefficient (K ̅), cryoconcentration efficiency (EFF) and energy consumption of the process (QE): During the assays, three concentrations of solids in the initial fluid were tested: 0.025%, 1.76%, 3.5% w/w, with three different coolant temperatures -6, -10, -14 ° C and three different speeds for the stirrer: 500, 1000, 1500 rpm. 17 experiments must be carried out to solve the matrix and the error evaluation. The test were randomized, for the statistical analysis was used the response surface methodology. The lower concentration of solids in ice obtained was 0.002% w / w, working at a temperature of -14 °C, 1489.89 rpm rotation speed and starting from a solid concentration in the initial fluid of 0.025% w/w. The results show that all the studied factors affect the final result of the progressive cryoconcentration (solids concentration on ice), being the most relevant the concentration of solids in the initial fluid. It was also observed that the coolant temperature does not significantly influence the average distribution coefficient (K ̅) or the cryoconcentration efficiency (EFF) so it can be used any value within the assigned range (-6, -10, - 14 ° C) is accepted. Cryoconcentration efficiency had a higher value based on the solids concentration in the initial fluid (0.025%). According to the averaged values of experimental power consumption, the treatments of salt solutions with concentrations of 0.025, 1.76, and 3.5% w/w consumed about 0.43 kWh/kg ice. Considering that the concentration 3.5% w / w is the same as sea water, based on the regression equation for concentration in solid ice (Csh), and taking the parameters V (rpm) and T (C) at its optimum value, there could be a scheme cryoconcentration in two stages, so that ultimately obtain ice whose conductivity, or whose salt concentration are below the limits set by Directive 98/83 / EC 2.5 ms/cm or 0.025% w/w to be considered safe water for human consumption.El presente trabajo se centró en el estudio de la desalinización de soluciones de sal común (como fluido simulación de agua de mar) mediante un sistema de crioconcentración progresiva de contacto indirecto. El efecto de tres factores (concentración inicial de sólidos, velocidad de giro del agitador y la temperatura del refrigerante) fueron investigados mediante la realización de ensayos en laboratorio. Para evaluar el proceso de crioconcentración se analizaron los siguientes parámetros: coeficiente medio de distribución (K ̅), eficiencia de la crioconcentración (EFF) y consumo energético del proceso (QE). En la realización de los ensayos se trabajó con diferentes concentraciones iniciales de sal (Csi) 0.025%, 1.76%, 3.5% p/p, temperatura de refrigerante -6, -10, -14 °C y velocidad de giro del agitador 500,1000, 1500 rpm. Un total de 17 ensayos (3 réplicas) se llevaron a cabo para resolver la matriz y la evaluación de errores. Los experimentos fueron realizados aleatoriamente, en el análisis estadístico se utilizó la metodología de superficie de respuesta. La concentración de sólidos en hielo más baja que se obtuvo fue 0.002% p/p, trabajando a una temperatura de -14°C, velocidad de giro 1489.89 rpm y partiendo de una concentración sólido en el fluido inicial de 0.025% p/p. Los resultados muestran que todos los factores de trabajo afectan al resultado final de la crioconcentración progresiva (concentración de sólidos en hielo), siendo el de mayor importancia la concentración inicial. También se pudo observar que la temperatura del refrigerante no influye significativamente en el coeficiente medio de distribución (K ̅) ni en la eficiencia de la crioconcentración (EFF) por lo que se puede utilizar cualquier valor dentro del rango asignado (-6, -10, -14°C). La eficiencia de la crioconcentración tuvo un mayor valor partiendo de la concentración de sólidos en el fluido inicial (0.025%). De acuerdo con los valores promediados de consumo de energía experimental, los tratamientos de soluciones de sal común con concentraciones de 0.025, 1.76, y 3.5%p/p consumen aproximadamente 0.43 kWh/kg hielo. Tomando en consideración que la concentración 3.5% p/p es la misma que la del agua del mar, partiendo de la ecuación de regresión para concentración sólidos en hielo (Csh), y tomando los parámetros de V (rpm) y de T (ºC) en su valor óptimo, se planteó un esquema de crioconcentración en dos etapas, de manera que al final se obtuviera hielo cuya conductividad, o cuya concentración de sal estén por debajo de los límites fijados por la Directiva 98/83/CE 2.5 ms/cm o 0.025% p/p para ser considerada agua apta para consumo humano
