The paper presents a new Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar (ISAR) algorithm intended for Radar Cross Section (RCS) measurement from scattering fields. The method is based on a spherical wave near-field illumination of the target, overcoming the requeriments of an expensive Compact Range facility to produce a plane wave illumination. The formulation and implementation of the algorithm are described. Some experimental results obtained in anechoic chamber are presented, showing a similar response than the conventional plane wave based methods, so that• this new method seems a fine alternative to them.Peer Reviewe
