The present study aims to show a panoramic vision of the most important maritime safety provisions in relation to oil tankers issued by the IMO, USA (U.S. Cost Guard) and more recently by the EU. It also pays special attention to the legal provisions stemming from market practices (Class) and procedures used by oil companies (Vetting)
