Formulations were characterized in terms of particle size , surface charge and the ability to protect the DNA from nucleases . Likewise, the efficiency of transfection and cell viability in vitro was assessed in culture cells and transfection capacity in vivo after intravenous administration in BALB/c mice . Lyophilization process was also optimized, and a short- and medium-term stability study was carried out with the lyophilized formulations.
