The dollar's status in the global economy with emphasis on recent developments

This thesis analyzes the current position of the U.S. dollar in the global economy. The first chapter focuses on the historical evolution of the position of the dollar against the background of the development of the whole international monetary system. The main part is focused on the current status of the dollar, which is examined on three fundamental functions of money - a store of value, unit of account and medium of exchange. The last chapter deals with possible scenario for the future status of the dollar
