This thesis focuses on Mexico's economic relations within regional grouping NAFTA in comparison with ties to the European Union. The United States, Canada and the European Union are the most important Mexico's trade partners, therefore agreements with these powers play a very important role in Mexico's external relations. The aim of this thesis is to compare these economic relations and study the impact of the agreements on Mexico. Chapter one presents the mexican economy and its characteristics. Chapter two focuses on the Mexico's position within NAFTA and its potencial perspectives. The same aim is used in chapter three, that examines the relations with the European Union. Emphasis is put on trade and investment relations
