Structural funds and rail transport in the EU

This paper describes the management procedures and policy objectives of financial sources in relation to rail transport. Besides the Cohesion Fund and the European Regional Development Fund, this paper defines a variety of alternative sources suitable for EU railways such as TEN-T or Marco Polo, the EIB and the EBRD loans or PP. The theoretical part is supported by real-life examples of rail transport projects. An analysis of the project achievements in terms of outputs and outcomes is also provided in this pape
