This thesis covers financing of higher education in USA. American higher education must not depend only on state or federal finances. Colleges and universities need to find other resources. Grants and private sector resources compensate low level of state/federal subsidies. First part describes the most important financial resources of today, separately for private and state colleges - federal grants, tuition, local and state government contributions. Next, paper deals with crossover from supporting schools to supporting students and the actual state of tuition levels. In the second part, a brief outline of students'financial aid is given.
