This paper analysis the robustness of the causal relationship between schoolingand wages. Different estimators and instruments are compared under theassumption of heterogeneous returns to schooling. A data set from Germany isemployed. It is shown that the results depend crucially on the choice ofinstruments and not so much on the applied estimator
