After a brief discussion on possible analyses of the derìvation of the Korean relative clause, I have suggested that the zero pronoun hypothesis is the most adequate one on the basis of some characteristics of non-configurational languages. Having defined Korean resumptive pronouns to be bound by the head noun, I have attempted to show where the resumptive pronouns appear. ln the embedded sentence of the relative clause, they appear in positions such as subject and object but they do not appear in the noun positions followed by the postpositions.
