The purpose of this paper is to examine characteristics of the hypertext, In extending Innis and McLuhan's perspective on media, it discusses three characteristics of the hypertext; nonlinearity, seamlessness, borderlessness. It argues that hypertext creates the changes in traditional power relations between writer and reader, and maker arxl audience. It also suggests that hypertext exempIify forms of transition between textuality and hypertextuality.
