On March 19th and 20th, twenty motivated researchers working on inter-vehicular communication (IVC) gathered in Ulm, Germany, for the third GI/ITG KuVS Fachgespräch on Inter-Vehicular Communication. On both days, they engaged in intensive discussions about the state of the field and future research directions. This year, the Fachgespräch's scope has been extended beyond communication, now also including cooperative driving, which is seen as one of the biggest upcoming challenges in automotive research. In cooperative driving, intelligent, self-driving vehicles use communication to provide advanced features, such as platooning.
