Trauma is the most important cause of death in patients under 40 years. To determine the accuracy of prehospital emergency physician field triage, we did a retrospective analysis to compare prehospital and inhospital trauma records of 479 road traffic accident victims. For this comparison the anatomical score AIS (abbreviated injury scale) was used. We can conclude that for the field triage especially a combination of anatomical and physiological criteria should be used and, in addition to that, the mechanism of injury
