In recent years, convergent strategies for protein synthesis have been developed including Kemp's prior thiol capture ligation, thiazolidine-capture ligation, thioester-mediated native chemical ligation, thioacid capture ligation, followed by Staudiger ligation and decarboxylative condensation.
