This is the final report of our Final Year Project, Jurong Island Groundwater Study: Yield Enhancement through Surface Water Recharge. Jurong Island was formed from seven offshore islands through land reclamation with a total land area of 32km2. It is a region where excessive groundwater abstraction could occur when the rate at which it is being abstracted is faster than the rate at which it is being recharged naturally. When this happens, there is a possibility of saltwater intrusion and even contaminating the groundwater supply. Thus, to use groundwater as a source of water supply as well as to prevent saltwater intrusion, we could look into recharging the groundwater by using bioretention systems. Being made up of mo...
