Survivability is the capability of a network in maintaining continuous service in the presence of faults within the network. Survivable routing of a connection typically involves the computations of a working path and its backups, such that when faults occur in the working path, the connection could be rerouted to backup solutions and hence not be seriously affected or interrupted.
