In this study, a method of splitting power plane on printed circuit board (PCB) with the implementation of patterned structure of periodic via array was investigated for noise reduction capability on high frequency noises due to power sources or high speed switching devices. There were several configurations designed, simulated and analyzed on a PCB using Computer Simulation Technology (CST) Microwave Studio simulation software. All of the simulations are done in the frequency domain with different configurations such as different period of the structure, from 2 to 6 millimeters (mm), and partial implementations of the structure on the PCB.
