Ties between the United States and Vietnam have definitely seen a shift from that of wartime antagonists to current socio-economic partners since the process of normalisation took pace more than a decade ago. With the second Indochina Conflict as a backdrop, this dissertation aims to understand why and how was it possible for 'ex-enemies' to start afresh and re-build ties on cooperative terms.
