The generation of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) is rising as the world population continue to increase. Consequently, the disposal of MSW becomes an increasingly critical issue. Although incineration is able to reduce the waste volume by about 90%, but the remaining incineration bottom ash still need to be disposed of in landfills. In land-scarce countries such as Singapore, this type of waste management is not sustainable and a viable recycling method to process the MSW incineration bottom ash need to be looked into for beneficial uses.Different pre-treatment methods were available and carbonation was the chosen treatment method and this was performed by placing samples in a CO2 incubator.
