This report focuses on the understanding of flooding issues in Singapore through understanding of the characteristics of the runoff hydrograph. The main aim of the report is to evaluate and to device strategies to reduce potential flooding in a centralized area ahead of an anticipated heavy rainfall event. The report goes through different methods applicable to an urban area attempted to minimize the flash flood issues. Methods such as the introduction of water tower, Active, Beautiful, Clean (ABC)’s water bioretention swales, retention basin and a combination of the ABC’s method with the conventional drainage method will be considered to evaluate the effectiveness of each method in a centralized catchment. This report also covers ad...
