In the present work I compare the "classic" aspect of the Homeric epic on the Trojan war with the birth and development of the ideology of the hero that distinguishes the tumultuous phases of formation of the Mediterranean aristocracies between the end of the Bronze Age and the beginnings of the Iron Age; the privileged point of view is that of protohistoric Sardinia.
