Teorema: una parabola tra film e romanzo

Pier Paolo Pasolini’s Teorema stands out as an example of originality and complexity, due, above all, to its genesis and to the “double” intersemiotic translation which has been carried out. In fact, the peculiarity of this work (conceived as a drama in 1966, but soon abandoned in favor of this dual version) is its concurrent development in two parallel ways: the cinematic one and the literary one. Two different languages and two visions of the same object as well. The adopted forms intertwine and mix together, thus constituting a whole. Although they keep their structural and organic autonomy, the examination of both is fundamental to fully understand the author’s theorem. Pasolini, by means of narrative form, tried to give life not only to a story, but rather to an event, a parable, an exemplum. In short he wanted to depict a miracle. The author himself, also, claimed the impossibility to handle in a realistic and mimetic way a novel centered on a middle class/bourgeois reality. Our goal is to demonstrate how the author forces cinematographic and literary conventions with the aim of describing a peculiar allegory of the Italian society; in doing this we focused primarily on the analysis of characteristic features pertaining to the different codes used.  Teorema di Pier Paolo Pasolini spicca per originalità e complessità dovute, anche e non solo, alla sua genesi e alla “doppia trasformazione di codice” avvenuta. Infatti, la particolarità dell’opera (nata come pièce teatrale nel ’66, ma poi abbandonata sotto questa veste) è il suo svilupparsi contemporaneamente su due binari paralleli: quello filmico e quello letterario. Due linguaggi differenti, ma altrettante visioni prospettiche dello stesso oggetto. Le forme adottate si intersecano e si compenetrano a vicenda costituendo così un’unica composizione. Pur mantenendo una loro autonomia e completezza, l’esame di entrambe le versioni è fondamentale per comprendere appieno il teorema dell’autore. Lo scopo di Pasolini è di dare vita, tramite la forma narrativa, non tanto ad una storia, quanto ad un evento, una “parabola”, un exemplum. Insomma quello di rappresentare un miracolo. Lo stesso autore, d’altronde, manifestò a suo tempo l’impossibilità di affrontare in maniera mimetica e realistica un’opera incentrata sulla realtà piccolo borghese italiana. Muovendo da queste premesse, il nostro lavoro si pone l’obiettivo di mettere in luce e analizzare come l’autore pieghi le convenzioni cinematografiche e il genere romanzo per rappresentare una personale allegoria della società italiana, analizzando allo stesso tempo le peculiarità inerenti ai diversi codici adottati.   &nbsp
