Urbanisation is slower on islands, so they reveal the distance between our heritage and us. This project is an exploration of local mythologies and history of Singapore's many islands. They are part of our identity. Donovan will attempt to investigate how these narratives remain relevant to our society. What is heritage that is separated from its place and community? Will there be anything left behind to discover or reflect upon in the future? Over the course of this project, Donovan highlights how Singaporeans and the establishment have, in the pursuit of economic gains and the rush to reclaim land, neglected the heritage behind these islands, which inform us about our identity.
