Power quality problems have great adverse economical impact on the utilities and customers. Current harmonics are one of the most common power quality problems which traditional passive filters are unable to resolve. Current harmonics are primarily produced when non-linear loads are connected to point of common coupling (PCC). The adverse effect can caused forms of voltage and current distortions that damage the equipments that is connected to the same PCC or shorten the life span of supply source. Nowadays, modern active filters such as the shunt active filter are used to compensate these current harmonic problems.
