Synthetic jet actuators (SJA) are a new class of flow control devices that can be used to increase the momentum of flow over the surface by injecting a massless jet (without any additional air supply) for effective delay of flow separation. It consists of a walled cavity enclosed with an orifice plate at one end and an oscillating diaphragm at the other, creating a successive vortex ring.
